You don’t have to travel far to have epic travel experiences 🔥

You don’t have to travel far to have epic travel experiences 🔥

We all know about yoga retreats in Thailand, mindfulness getaways in Bali, or adventure holidays in New Zealand, but the truth is, you don’t have to venture that far to have epic travel experiences – to try something new, to push yourself outside your comfort zone, and/or to make lifelong memories with new friends.

I’m from the midlands in the UK, and I’m writing this from Totnes in Devon, a 3-4 hour drive from my hometown, where I’ve come for a week-long workation with three of my travel buddies I met in Spain.

And you don’t even have to get that far away from where you live – as long as it’s somewhere new to you (or you’re doing something new in a place you love), it can be somewhere as little as thirty minutes away.

During this week my friends and I have done a lot of work (it helps when everyone else you’re with has to work too), but we’ve also done a lot of other things – things I normally wouldn’t do if I was back in my hometown, going about my usual weekly routine.

  • I’ve had a gong bath with several other people (not an actual bath!) – something I’ve never done before and wouldn’t have thought to do on my own
  • I’ve gone on a canoe ride along the river, after which we had a storytelling session around a campfire before rowing back along the river in the dusk – truly magical. And I’m not usually one to voluntarily get into a canoe
  • I’ve gone to open mic nights and jam sessions in pubs, plus an outdoor festival and a party in a lido – all of which are a break from my usual routine
  • I’ve gone on some lovely walks along the river and through the rolling hills of the Devon countryside (including the wonderful Dartmoor), giving me some much-needed fresh air, exercise, and time in nature
  • I’ve had an amazing afternoon tea in a lovely castle, which was particularly special as we were introducing the Great British Afternoon Tea tradition to our Canadian and Korean friends
  • I had a drone photo/video shoot session, getting footage for any upcoming videos I make for my Academy or for social media
  • I made friends with two dogs, which is always amazing
  • And much, much more!

This was all in a week, all just a few hours’ drive from my hometown. I even did a couple of pit stops on the way while I was on my own, visiting Wells (because Hot Fuzz, a film I love, was filmed there) and Glastonbury (a super cute town with lovely shops, which I’ve always wanted to visit).

So, it just goes to show that you don’t have to get on a plane or hop on a boat to have some awesome travel adventures and to create some lovely lifelong memories.

With this in mind, where are you going to go next? And how can you make sure it gives you a break from your usual routine?

That’s it for now – until next time, I’ll catch you on the flip side!
